Hi, my name is Lynn. I am a registered hypno-psychotherapist with The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and abide by their code of ethics and professional standards to give you peace of mind. I am also a certified Flow coach, a model that taps into your creativity to find the right solution for you.

The therapeutic relationship between a cient and the therapist plays an important role toward successful therapy. I bring to each session my ability to actively listen, openly communicate in a conversational and genuine manner. I create a personable and non-judgemental space, where you’ll feel safe and comfortable to share within a partnership. Having a strong sense of empathy, I am able to connect with your feelings as to what you might be going through. Clients have said this makes them feel “normal”, that they’re not alone with their issue. I’ve also had my own fair share of life experiences and understand how challenging life can be. I fully respect and value that you’ll come with your own beliefs, strengths and weaknesses, and will not hold assumptions of what I think you should be, but help you to access and develop your own potential.

My background before practising therapy was in opera singing, where I bolstered my determination, how to push through fear and not take rejection too personally. My singing is what brought me to the UK from Toronto in year 2000. Whilst working as a singer I became interested in managing my own performance anxiety with self-help therapy, but I didn’t stick with it on my own and decided to enrol in a therapy course and I never looked back… that was 15 years ago.

I am passionate about psychology, how we humans develop, cope and how we surpass our own expectations. I find it fascinating learning about new methods and research and enjoy being my own guinea pig. So essentially what I’m pouring into my therapy practice, is me – my training, my knowledge, my wisdom, my life experience, my compassion for people and my commitment to you.

I look forward to meeting you,

Lynn

I have a gained a masters-level diploma through the National College of Hypnosis, Psychotherapy and Mindfulness, that permits me to use hypnosis and psychotherapy in a clinical setting. The National College is a training organisation of the United Kingdom of Counselling and Psychotherapy (UKCP), and I am bound to their code of ethics and practice. The UKCP is a professional body formed to establish the psychotherapy profession and set training and ethical standards. With an ever-increasing popularity of hypnotherapy and coaching, there are numerous practitioners to choose from, so it is ever-more important to choose a practitioner who is accredited and belongs to a recognised council that requires members to adhere to their code of ethics, has a complaints procedure, requires on-going supervision, continued professional development, liability insurance and has verifiable means of accreditation as there is still no formal regulation or statutory registration in the UK.

I offer an integrative therapy approach for as I see it, having expertise in only one kind of therapy such as CBT runs the risk of helping clients only part of the way. I prefer a more holistic approach considering all angles. Perhaps you need to learn relaxation first then heal a past issue, then gain new perspective then integrate into your everyday your new ways of being with new found motivation. This would involve different methods. The therapy needs to suit the individual not the individual suit the therapy.

My integrative approach is used in 2 ways, utilising  techniques from different therapies for a better chance of suitability and  also as a process of integrating the ‘self’. Working on one part of the self may affect another part so it is important to address the whole system to bring about a sense of balance and well-being.

I believe strongly on emotion work and the role emotions play in deep seated memory patterns. These patterns created in the past affect the nervous system and inform future beliefs, values and decisions, and in the case of traumatic events, emotions will rise to warn of any similar dangers. These activations may be unconscious so simply talking and asking the cognitive part of the brain questions, may not be enough to release the stuck emotions and change the pattern. So core work on uncovering patterns, finding new meanings and perspectives and strengthening resources such as resilience and compassion is my motivation.

Mission

To help as many people as I can to let go, laugh hard, love unconditionally and live to take chances. Life is too short not to.

Vision

I see a world where everyone is given the chance to discover and connect with their true self and not be defined by circumstance. To feel empowered by possibility and make their vision a reality.
